Malcolm's CV
I spent the first 3 years of my working career in the retail world and then began my degree in Veterinary Surgery at Glasgow University when I was 20. After graduating in 1972, I spent a period in practice in Devon and London.In 1975 I set up Westway Veterinary Group in Newcastle upon Tyne, building it up the NE England into a 9-site practice employing 16 veterinary surgeons based around a central hospital.
In 1991, I set up Vet Direct Services Ltd - a Veterinary Wholesale Company - which offered a range of veterinary supplies to a national customer base.
In 1999 after selling off Westway, I set up a national vet group, firstvets Ltd that grew by acquisition to an 11-site practice with surgeries in the West Midlands, East Midlands, Northumberland, Durham and Glasgow, employing over 75 staff.
Between 2004 and 2006, I sold off my interests in various companies.
Throughout my career, I have been involved in the practical business development and sale and purchase of veterinary practices and have acted as a consultant for Equity companies in the purchase of corporate groups.
I now specialise in running the online VBA which offers valuation guides and advice to prospective sellers and purchasers..
